 SportsTrack and its integrated internet and mobile phone based mapping solutions were developed in South Africa and launched there in March 2007 by SportsTrack Pty in Cape Town (www.sportstrack.net). The company has a long track record
of designing and building vehicle, personal and bespoke tracking equipment solutions for corporate, business and individual use (www.utrackit.net).
The system has until now only been available in Southern Africa where over three thousand systems have been sold. SportsTrack as a personal tracking solution for sporting applications has been used by many top athletes including Jan Ullrich.
It has already been used in many top flight events including the Freedom Challenge, Cape Argus and the World Surf Ski Championships. Cyclists, hill walkers, runners and swimmers have all benefited from the unique SportsTrack system. No other comparable system is available. BlueSky Telemetry has the European rights to distribute Sports Track and works closely with SportsTrack Pty in Cape Town.
Blue Sky Telemetry Ltd (BST), now in its eighth year, designs and manufactures GPS tracking equipment for agricultural and wildlife research scientists. Today BST is one of only eight companies worldwide in this field. Key customers include, Oxford University, Texas A&M University, University of Cape Town, Wits University in JoBurg, CSIRO Rockhampton in Australia and AgResearch in New Zealand. Consultation with customers has driven collar design to ensure that products are user-friendly and cost-effective without compromising the high quality data expected. Cutting edge design has been coupled with state of the art components.
BlueSky Telemetry is also the exclusive UK and Irish distributor for Care Trak – the personal tracking solution for children with autism and patients/clients with Alzheimer’s. The Care Trak system was developed over fifteen years ago in America by Wildlife Materials Inc (WMI) of Murphysboro, Illinois. The company has a long track record of designing and building radio tracking equipment for wild life researchers worldwide and this expertise was utilised in the development of Care Trak.
The system has until now been available only in the United States where over ten thousand systems have been sold with in excess of five hundred police departments having vehicles equipped with tracking units. This has resulted in over eighteen hundred alzheimer and autism sufferers being safely traced within half an hour of the search commencing.
The delivery and support provided by SportsTrack UK is based on a wealth of experience in a wide range of tracking markets. SportsTrack UK will bring that knowledge to bear in the outdoor personal tracking market and event management.
